PONANT brings you an itinerary to the heart of the most enchanting islands in the Caribbean Sea. Board Le Champlain for a 9-day cruise combining long stretches of white-sand beach, idyllic turquoise waters, and the laid-back island way of life.
Board your ship in Vieux Fort, St. Lucia, whose two majestic volcanic peaks – the Gros and Petit Pitons – jut dramatically from sea to sky and are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
You will then set sail for Portsmouth in Dominica, a mountainous island where inland rivers and nature trails provide a glimpse into the intriguing flora and fauna of the island and – if you are lucky – the chance to see the nation’s national bird, the Sisserou Parrot. Do not miss the opportunity to sample some native chocolate from a local maker.
Continue north to Les Saintes, a small archipelago of Guadeloupe, a highly popular anchorage site with crystal-clear waters and fabulous seabeds where opportunities to enjoy the seascape abound. Snorkel, swim, or kayak in the shadow of the imposing 19th-century Fort Napoléon.
Your ship will then sail south to the archipelago of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Here, begin on the island of Bequia, where small, picturesque villages, unbelievably clear waters, and brightly colored coral reefs prove main attractions. Then, enjoy a day on your magnificent private beach on the island of Mayreau.
Anchor next in the Tobago Cays Marine Park. This circle of islands, bound together by arguably the most beautiful coral reef in the West Indies, will reveal its incredible underwater wildlife during your visit.
Continue to Saint George’s, the capital of Grenada, a hilly island of unspoiled beauty and the southernmost isle of the Lesser Antilles. Nicknamed the Spice Island, Grenada is home to a number of nutmeg plantations. The island boasts the pristine Grand Etang National Park, which you may choose to visit.
Le Champlain sails on to Bridgetown, Barbados, whose UNESCO World Heritage-listed historic center reveals touches of its British colonial past around every corner. Toast the end of your cruise with a glass of the island’s famous rum as you relish the memories of your week at sea on this breathtaking stretch of the Caribbean! Your cruise ends back in Vieux Fort.

During the days spent on board, you are advised to wear comfortable clothes or casual outfits. The entire ship is air-conditioned, so a light sweater, a light jacket or a shawl may be necessary. Diving & initiation dive
Supervision of the dives
Your dives will be led by your PONANT instructor. He will take care of your safety and that all goes smoothly. On some diving sites, as in natural reserves or if the local regulations require it, a local guide will escort the diving.
Level required for scuba diving on this cruise
The minimum level required for scuba diving on this cruise is 1 star CMAS or the PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent). The certification card, the diving log book and a recent medical certificate (less than 12 months) must be presented at the beginning of the cruise to our main diving instructor.
Process of the dives (certified divers)
The instructor reserves the right to check divers’ ability for maximum safety. As we will dive in remote places, the dives will be done without decompression stop. A safety stop of 3 minutes at 5 metres will be mandatory. The depth that can be reached will depend on the certification of the divers:
- For those with PADI Open Water Diver certificate (or equivalent), the maximum depth can be up to 20 metres.
- If two Stars CMAS or PADI Advanced Open Water Divers (or equivalent) wish to dive together independently, they must have a briefing first. They must have dive computers and are allowed to go to a maximum depth of 20 metres.
Process of the initiation dives (novice divers)
Before your initiation dive, your instructor will show you the equipment and will explain to you how to communicate underwater using hand gestures and how to breathe through a regulator. Once in the water, equipped with your material, you will learn how to breathe through your regulator on the surface for a couple of minutes. When your instructor feels you are ready, he will immerse you in water for about 20 minutes to a depth of 6 metres maximum.
Duration of the dives
The diving activity lasts from 2 to 3 hours, which includes the journey to the diving site and the diving. This duration may vary according to the site, the level of divers, weather conditions and the number of participants. For experienced divers, the duration of dives varies between 35 and 60 minutes depending on the site, the diver’s experience and consumption.

Mask and snorkel: for health reasons due to Covid-19, we strongly recommend that you come on board with your own mask and snorkel .As an exception, you will be able to borrow them in accordance with sanitary conditions.

Fauna and flora of the Caribbean Sea
The fauna of the Caribbean Sea is very varied. During the different dives, divers can observe various species of benthic fauna such as French angel fish, queen angel fish, spotted drums, puffer fish, parrots fish, and pelagic fauna such as spotted eagle ray, barracudas, horse eyes jackfish, as well as fixed wildlife such as gorgonians and barrel sponges.

Renowned for its LCVIF and beaches typical of the Caribbean, it is also famous for its mythical Moule-a-Chique Lighthouse. Built in 1912 and standing 200 metres (656 feet) tall, this lighthouse will be visible as soon as you arrive on the Saint Lucian coastlines. The beauty of Vieux Fort is also reflected in the underwater kingdom that surrounds it. It is home to an abundance of marine species, such as eagle rays or leatherback sea turtles. During the feast of All Saints in 1493, Christopher Columbus discovered this archipelago of nine islands that he named "The Saints". Today, only two of them are inhabited. Terre de Haut, in the east, is dominated by the Morne Mire hill; at the summit stands Fort Napoleon, paying homage to the islands' history. In the heart of the botanical garden, shared by iguanas and cacti, there is an exceptional view of the Baie des Saintes, one of the most beautiful in the world. The long shady beach of Pompierre, where it is forbidden to drop anchor, is a peaceful place for a swim, while Pain de Sucre Beach offers wonderful opportunities for snorkelling. On the island, don’t forget to taste the local speciality, the “tourment d’amour”, a cake made with coconut.

In the heart of the Caribbean, Bequia is the second-largest of 32 islands that make up the country of St Vincent and the Grenadines. Delicately set in the curve of a bay on the west coast of Grenada, Saint George’s lively commercial fishing harbour is especially colourful when the boats are being loaded with fruit and vegetables destined for neighbouring islands and when all the little fishing boats return from their day out at sea. This “spice island” capital is an excellent base for visiting the surrounding natural sites : its picturesque coast or the artisanal producers of chocolate and nutmeg, Grenada’s gold. Five kilometres (3 miles) to the south, you will be able to visit Grande Anse and Morne Rouge, two long sandy beaches.

Bridgetown, the bustling capital of Barbados, is located on the island's south-west coast. Its historic quarters are UNESCO World Heritage sites and contain prime examples of British colonial architecture, which you will see between the postcard-perfect fishing harbour and St Ann's Fort. Streets shaded by palms and flamboyant trees lead you to the Anglican cathedral church of St Michael, built from coral stone, the Barbados Museum and George Washington House, a Georgian-style mansion. There'll be plenty of time to relax on the Caribbean beaches of Carlisle Bay, a few paces from the old town centre.

The Indian River by Rowboat
Named for the Kalinago (formerly known as Carib) peoples who settled on its banks, Dominica's Indian River runs down from the Morne aux Diables Mountains, through the center of the town of Portsmouth, and into the Caribbean Sea. This excursion is an opportunity to observe the intriguing local flora and fauna from the vantage point of the river that sustains it.
A 15-minute drive brings you to the landing where experienced boatmen in hand-oared wooden rowboats wait to take you up the slow-moving river. As the river flows through the lowlands around Portsmouth, the terrain frequently dips below sea level, making the water in these areas brackish. The high salt content contributes to an unusual variety of plant and animal life, much of it indigenous to Dominica. The area is also home to herons, king fisher, and iguanas. In the aftermath of the disastrous devastation caused by Hurricane Maria in 2017, vegetation continues to make a strong comeback and is steadily returning this special habitat to its earlier abundance.
The Indian River is also now famous as the setting for a number of scenes in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Your boatman will likely have stories to tell about the filming, and he will almost certainly offer you a chance to stop at the renowned Bush Bar, where you can sample the owner's special version of rum punch.

The Syndicate Nature Trail
Nestled in the foothills of Dominica’s tallest mountain, Morne Diablotin, and close to the Picard River Gorge, is the Syndicate Nature Trail. Part of the National Park, the area is popular for bird watching as it is a sanctuary for some of the 51 species of local and migratory birds that may be found here. The area also has a diverse array of flora. It is a key location for research and education and has lovely view points along the walking path.
As the trail loops through the forest, it offers panoramic views of the Dublanc River Valley below. If you are particularly lucky, you may sight Dominica’s National Bird — the Sisserou Parrot (Amazona imperialis) — or the Jaco (Amazona arausiaca). The forest is full of other wildlife, including four species of hummingbirds.
At the end of your hike, you will proceed to Syndicate Café for refreshments before embarking on the 45-minute drive back to the ship.
- This tour is a moderately easy 1 ½ hour hike through the forest on sometimes muddy trails with a few steps. We recommend you wear comfortable hiking shoes, bring insect repellent, and protect yourself from the sun. Refreshments are included. Participants must be in good physical condition. Chocolate Factory Visit & Tasting
From the pier, your coach embarks on a one-hour scenic drive across the island to the village of Calibishie and Pointe Baptiste. This area along Dominica's northeast coast is a center of cocoa production, where local farmers grow, harvest and process their crops according to sound ecological principles.
At the Pointe Baptiste Chocolate Factory, a small family business built on sustainable practices, you will be personally welcomed by the family and invited to explore their estate and discover their methods of cocoa farming and making chocolate. They will be delighted to share their knowledge and experience, and explain all the different steps in making chocolate from bean to bar.
You will also have the opportunity to sample their finished product. They offer many different varieties of chocolate: dark chocolate, ginger, coffee, spice, hot pepper, lemongrass, tangerine, mint, and milk chocolate.

Fort Napoleon & Walking Tour
Meet your guide at the pier and board a mini-bus to drive to the Vauban-style Fort Napoléon, situated on a promontory some 300 feet above La Baie des Saintes, overlooking the small town below. The current fort was built in 1867 as a tribute to Napoleon III on the site of the original Fort Louis, destroyed by the English in 1809.
At the Fort you have a choice of participating in a guided tour or exploring the site on your own. In either case, you will enjoy wonderful views of the nine islands that make up the Îles des Saintes archipelago as well as Guadeloupe's main island six miles to the north.
Following your guide as you stroll down the hill, pause at a shipyard in Marigot Bay to see how traditional island boats are built before continuing to the center of town. You will have time to explore the shops and cafes that line the waterfront and to taste the famous Tourment d'Amour, a small round tart originating in these islands with a soft coconut, banana, guava, or cherry filling, depending on the season.
- This excursion involves approximately two hours of walking on uneven ground and on different levels with some steps for a total of 2 – 3 miles. We recommend you wear sturdy and comfortable shoes and protection from the sun.

Les Saintes by Boat, Swim & Snorkel
Board your small motorboat at the pier and begin your scenic journey around the nine isles of the archipelago of Les Saintes that dot the ocean between the main islands of Terre-de-Haut and Terre-de-Bas.
Sailing first to Marigot Bay, from where you can see landmarks of Terre-de-Haut, including Fort Napoléon, you turn westward to pass Îlet à Cabrit before rounding the western point of Terre-de-Haut to reach the uninhabited Grand Îlet, a paradise for tortoises and seabirds. Passing by the rocky islet of La Coche, you continue to Terre-de-Bas where you can see the remains of an ancient pottery workshop on the shore, as well as the tortoises and pelicans who have made it their home.
Back to Terre-de-Haut, you will then sail to the Pain de Sucre, Guadeloupe's version of the more famous Sugarloaf Mountain landmark in Rio de Janeiro. Here you will enjoy some free time for swimming, snorkeling, and having a refreshment before sailing back to the pier and your ship.

Clear-Bottom Kayak Discovery
From the pier, a 10-minute walk will bring you to the start of your kayaking adventure. Meet your guide who will introduce you to your clear-bottom kayak and brief you on safety matters before you set off to explore La Baie des Saintes, universally recognized as one of the most beautiful bays in the world.
Follow your guide as you paddle along the bay and stop at the Pain de Sucre, a balsamic formation in this volcanic region. Here you may swim and snorkel.
As you continue along the shore back to the pier, your guide will help identify the different kinds of coral and tropical fish you encountered and explain their role in the local ecosystem.

Fort Napoléon & Local Specialties
Meet your guide at the pier and board a mini-bus to drive to the Vauban-style Fort Napoléon, situated on a promontory some 300 feet above La Baie des Saintes, overlooking the small town below. The current fort was built in 1867 as a tribute to Napoleon III on the site of the original Fort Louis, destroyed by the English in 1809.
At the Fort your guide will explain the history of the fort and traditions of the island and you will enjoy wonderful views of the nine islands that make up the Îles des Saintes archipelago as well as Guadeloupe's main island six miles to the north.
At the end of the visit, enjoy a tasting of local specialties including fish crepes and the famous Tourment d'Amour, a small round tart originating in these islands, accompanied by juices and punches made from tropical fruits.
Walk down from the fort and back to the waterfront to reboard your ship.

Catamaran Cruise & Snorkeling
Board a catamaran at the pier for a three-hour sailing and snorkeling adventure in the heart of the Caribbean Sea.
Bequia is considered by many to be one of the best dive spots in the Caribbean, in large part because of its unbelievably clear waters. But you need not be a diver to appreciate the beauty of the caves and holes, walls and overhangs that provide the setting for the beautiful coral formations here that support a teeming marine life. As you sail through these crystalline waters, enjoying sights both above and below water, you will pass by Moonhole, a private community built of stone, inside a massive basalt arch. Moonhole's buildings rely solely on the sun and the wind for power, heating, and cooling.
The catamaran sails on, to the tiny island of Petit Nevis, where the captain will drop anchor and you will be able to snorkel in the waters just offshore.
After time enjoying the crystalline waters, a 30-minute sail will take you back to your ship.

Grenada Highlights
This excursion provides a relaxed day of touring aboard a comfortable motorcoach to experience the natural beauty of the "Spice Island," to learn about the manufacture of award-winning chocolate, and to sample Grenada's creole cuisine.
From the pier in St. George's, drive along the scenic western coast of the island to reach Concord Falls, a lovely and easily accessible waterfall on the edges of the rainforest. After some time here to stretch your legs among nutmeg and cocoa trees, drive a bit further north to the Diamond Chocolate Factory, established in 2013 in an abandoned 18th-century rum distillery. Learn about the entire process of creating chocolate, from the harvesting of cocoa beans, through their fermentation, sorting, drying, roasting, grinding and refining, to the end product. In 2016, the Jouvay organic chocolate made here was ranked among the 10 best chocolates in the world by National Geographic, and you will be able to sample it before leaving the factory.
Travel to the Belmont Estate, a plantation and restaurant on Grenada's east coast, where you will enjoy a farm to table luncheon buffet of traditional Creole dishes.
Continue your exploration of this lush island as you drive through the rainforest in the central highlands to reach Grand Etang National Park, where you may enjoy a short mid-afternoon stroll through the surrounding gardens before returning to St. George's and your ship.

Trekking to Bamboo Falls
One of the best ways to experience the legendary beauty of Grenada is to hike through the middle of the rainforest that covers much of the island's interior. If you enjoy brisk outdoor activity, this excursion is for you.
From St. George's, drive up steep winding roads to reach the Grand Etang Forest, a sanctuary and nature reserve in the heart of Grenada's Central Mountain Range, some 1900 feet above sea level. Here, lush vegetation, towering mahogany trees, ferns, and colorful tropical flowers provide a perfect habitat for a rich diversity of bird and animal life.
From the trailhead, follow your guide through stands of nutmeg, cinnamon, cocoa, bananas, papaya, and a variety of other tropical fruits and spices as you make your way to Bamboo Falls. The 45-minute trek each way is moderately difficult as the trail can be muddy and slippery, but the falls, known as one of the most beautiful in the Caribbean, is well worth the effort. If you are especially adventurous, you may want to take a dip in the falls before returning to the pier, where you will be greeted with a choice of organic fruit juices to celebrate your outing.
- Total walking distance during this excursion is approximately 1.5 miles. You must be physically fit and at least 8 years old to participate. Since the trail may be muddy and slippery and crosses a small river, sturdy hiking shoes are recommended. Tea at the Tower Estate
The Tower Estate sits atop a small peak in the middle of the Parish of St. George and is dominated by a magnificent Victorian-style Great House. As you tour this century-old stone and wood building, you will feel as though you have entered a different time, walking through rooms with mahogany ceilings and hand-crafted paneled walls—rooms furnished with period antiques and boasting collections of maps and prints of historical Grenada.
The Great House is surrounded by a garden of tropical flowering trees, shrubs, vegetables, fruit trees, and an array of Grenada's world-renowned spices. The award-winning garden (it is, among other honors, listed in Rae Spenser-Jones's 1001 Gardens You Must See Before You Die) is the creation of Victoria Slinger, who sometimes leads tours of the property herself.
After your exploration of the estate, return to the Great House for an afternoon tea of finger sandwiches, breads and pastries, and a selection of fruit juices and teas, including Grenada's famous Blue Tea, made from the Butterfly Pea Flower.

Snorkeling the Underwater Sculpture Park
Grenada, like most of the islands in the Caribbean, is a snorkeler's paradise, with crystal clear waters, protected bays, and coral reefs. This excursion takes advantage of all of those attributes and adds the special Grenadian twist of a visit to the world's first underwater sculpture park.
Meet your captain and crew as you step aboard a twin-engine powerboat and cruise northward along Grenada's scenic western coast. Arrive at the underwater sculpture park, created by English artist Jason De Cayres Taylor in 2006. Taylor's installation consists of sculpted human forms strategically placed within the reef in the hope that they may aid in the rebuilding of a damaged ecosystem. The park's highlight is ''Vicissitudes,'' a circle of life-size sculptures of children of diverse ethnic backgrounds holding hands.
After a guided snorkel, continue cruising through scenic bays and along Carenage, St. George’s picturesque historic inner harbor.

From the pier, board your coach for a 15-minute transfer to your catamaran. After receiving safety instructions, you will start your cruise on the crystal-clear waters along the coastline of Barbados.
Continue to a sheltered bay for an exploration of the dazzling marine inhabitants of Barbados. In addition to schools of colorful tropical fish, this area is known for its population of Green and Hawksbill Turtles, who enjoy the temperate and calm waters off the west coast. Take the opportunity to snorkel with these graceful sea turtles – an underwater camera is a must. Take a swim in the warm, inviting waters from the boat or choose to simply relax on deck and enjoy the sunshine. During your return cruise, enjoy refreshments and a snack.

Barbados Rum Experience
Barbados claims to be the birthplace of rum, and although other Caribbean islands also lay claim to that distinction, there is no doubt that the tiny island produces some of the very best varieties of rum to be found anywhere.
Begin with a drive through Bridgetown and past its historic Garrison, once the largest British garrison in the Caribbean and now a UNESCO World Heritage site, to reach the bustling South Coast of beautiful beaches and colorful hotels. Turning inland, travel the short distance to the Foursquare Rum Distillery and Heritage Park, established in 1720 and renovated in 1996 to become among the most technologically advanced distilleries on Barbados.
A guided tour of this award-winning facility—Rum Distillery of the Year 2016-2019 & 2021 at the IWSC in London—walks you through the stages of rum making, introduces you to the history of sugarcane plantations, and ends, of course, with a tasting of Foursquare rums, including local favorites such as Doorly’s XO, RL Seales Old Brigand, and RUM Sixty-Six.
On your return to Bridgetown, drive through the lush St. George Valley before reboarding the ship.

Highlights of Barbados
From the pier, board your coach for a 30-minute drive to Gun Hill Signal Station. You will pass through the heart of the capital of Bridgetown with its many historic buildings and then up to Government Hill, where the residences of the Governor General and the Prime Minister are located.
Nestled in lush vegetation and built in 1818, Gun Hill Signal Station is one of a chain of signal stations established across the country for the security of Barbados and for dissemination of information mainly relating to shipping. Today it is fully restored and landscaped. At 700 feet above sea level, this spot affords one of the best views of the island.
Your next stop will be the St. John's Parish Church. This classic Gothic church was built to replace the previous structure, which had been destroyed by a hurricane in 1831. Steeped in the island's history, this historic church boasts a panoramic view of Barbados' wind-swept East coast. Some curiosities of this site include the fact that the Churchyard contains the remains of Ferdinando Paleologus (a descendant of the last Byzantine Emperor), and the interior's pulpit is carved out of seven different types of wood.
Your last stop will be made at Codrington College, an Anglican seminary founded with funds from the bequest of Christopher Codrington. After his death in 1710, Codrington left portions of his sugar cane estates to the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts in order to establish a college in Barbados. Construction was started in 1714, and the college was eventually opened on September 9, 1745.
Your return drive takes you along the bustling South Coast of the island, passing through the Garrison and then the capital Bridgetown, all part of a UNESCO World Heritage site, before returning to the Port.

Diving
During an introduction to scuba diving or a more advanced dive for holders of the necessary certifications (level 1 on yachting cruises and 2 on expedition cruises), explore the planet’s most beautiful underwater environments in the company of a PONANT diving instructor, as well as a local instructor when required by local legislation. They will ensure that your dives are conducted smoothly and safely: supervision of four certified divers at a time, evaluation of diving skills and experience, adherence to safety stops, zones and the maximum depth authorised.
A recent medical certificate (less than 12 months) must be presented at the beginning of the cruise to the main diving instructor.

Day 1 – St. Lucia
Arrive at Hewanorra International Airport, where you will be met and transferred to the northern tip of the island to the Bay Gardens Beach Resort, your home for the next three nights. Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. A local representative will be present at the hospitality desk in the afternoon to welcome you and answer any questions you may have. Day 2 – St. Lucia

Day 3 – St. Lucia
Because of its history as both a French and British colony (control of the island changed hands between these two European powers fourteen times between 1639 and 1814) the creole culture of St. Lucia is a fascinating blend of English, French, African, and indigenous Caribbean language and traditions. Today's excursion begins with a visit to a local farm that is part of the international "FarmHer" movement to highlight and support the role of women in agriculture. Meet with the owner and learn about her entry into the business, and about the support she receives from her creole background, and, of course, sample some of the produce from the farm. Continue to Stony Hill, a private residence with a splendid tropical garden and panoramic views of Pigeon Island and Rodney Bay. Day 4 – St. Lucia | Embark
Breakfast and check-out are followed by a day exploring the western coast of St. Lucia. Your panoramic tour begins with a drive through the town of Castries to a viewpoint overlooking the harbor of this busy port and capital city. Drive further south through lush valleys to the yachtsman's paradise of Marigot Bay, where you pause before continuing to Soufrière, home to the iconic Pitons of St. Lucia. Here you will enjoy guided tours of the Diamond Botanical Gardens and of Sulphur Springs Park, with views of the bubbling pools of sulphur that give Soufrière its name. Your final stop will be at Morne Coubaril Estate, a working farm that produces cocoa, coconut, and manioc and that preserves a sense of 18th-century life on a French creole plantation. Enjoy a delicious creole lunch at a local restaurant before transferring to the pier in Vieux Fort to embark your ship in late afternoon.

Named for the Kalinago (formerly known as Carib) peoples who settled on its banks, Dominica's Indian River runs down from the Morne aux Diables Mountains, through the center of the town of Portsmouth, and into the Caribbean Sea. This excursion is an opportunity to observe the intriguing local flora and fauna from the vantage point of the river that sustains it.
A 15-minute drive brings you to the landing where experienced boatmen in hand-oared wooden rowboats wait to take you up the slow-moving river. As the river flows through the lowlands around Portsmouth, the terrain frequently dips below sea level, making the water in these areas brackish. The high salt content contributes to an unusual variety of plant and animal life, much of it indigenous to Dominica. The area is also home to herons, king fisher, and iguanas. In the aftermath of the disastrous devastation caused by Hurricane Maria in 2017, vegetation continues to make a strong comeback and is steadily returning this special habitat to its earlier abundance.
The Indian River is also now famous as the setting for a number of scenes in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Your boatman will likely have stories to tell about the filming, and he will almost certainly offer you a chance to stop at the renowned Bush Bar, where you can sample the owner's special version of rum punch.

The Syndicate Nature Trail
Nestled in the foothills of Dominica’s tallest mountain, Morne Diablotin, and close to the Picard River Gorge, is the Syndicate Nature Trail. Part of the National Park, the area is popular for bird watching as it is a sanctuary for some of the 51 species of local and migratory birds that may be found here. The area also has a diverse array of flora. It is a key location for research and education and has lovely view points along the walking path.
As the trail loops through the forest, it offers panoramic views of the Dublanc River Valley below. If you are particularly lucky, you may sight Dominica’s National Bird — the Sisserou Parrot (Amazona imperialis) — or the Jaco (Amazona arausiaca). The forest is full of other wildlife, including four species of hummingbirds.
At the end of your hike, you will proceed to Syndicate Café for refreshments before embarking on the 45-minute drive back to the ship.

Chocolate Factory Visit & Tasting
From the pier, your coach embarks on a one-hour scenic drive across the island to the village of Calibishie and Pointe Baptiste. This area along Dominica's northeast coast is a center of cocoa production, where local farmers grow, harvest and process their crops according to sound ecological principles.
At the Pointe Baptiste Chocolate Factory, a small family business built on sustainable practices, you will be personally welcomed by the family and invited to explore their estate and discover their methods of cocoa farming and making chocolate. They will be delighted to share their knowledge and experience, and explain all the different steps in making chocolate from bean to bar.
You will also have the opportunity to sample their finished product. They offer many different varieties of chocolate: dark chocolate, ginger, coffee, spice, hot pepper, lemongrass, tangerine, mint, and milk chocolate.

Fort Napoleon & Walking Tour
Meet your guide at the pier and board a mini-bus to drive to the Vauban-style Fort Napoléon, situated on a promontory some 300 feet above La Baie des Saintes, overlooking the small town below. The current fort was built in 1867 as a tribute to Napoleon III on the site of the original Fort Louis, destroyed by the English in 1809.
At the Fort you have a choice of participating in a guided tour or exploring the site on your own. In either case, you will enjoy wonderful views of the nine islands that make up the Îles des Saintes archipelago as well as Guadeloupe's main island six miles to the north.
Following your guide as you stroll down the hill, pause at a shipyard in Marigot Bay to see how traditional island boats are built before continuing to the center of town. You will have time to explore the shops and cafes that line the waterfront and to taste the famous Tourment d'Amour, a small round tart originating in these islands with a soft coconut, banana, guava, or cherry filling, depending on the season.

Les Saintes by Boat, Swim & Snorkel
Board your small motorboat at the pier and begin your scenic journey around the nine isles of the archipelago of Les Saintes that dot the ocean between the main islands of Terre-de-Haut and Terre-de-Bas.
Sailing first to Marigot Bay, from where you can see landmarks of Terre-de-Haut, including Fort Napoléon, you turn westward to pass Îlet à Cabrit before rounding the western point of Terre-de-Haut to reach the uninhabited Grand Îlet, a paradise for tortoises and seabirds. Passing by the rocky islet of La Coche, you continue to Terre-de-Bas where you can see the remains of an ancient pottery workshop on the shore, as well as the tortoises and pelicans who have made it their home.
Back to Terre-de-Haut, you will then sail to the Pain de Sucre, Guadeloupe's version of the more famous Sugarloaf Mountain landmark in Rio de Janeiro. Here you will enjoy some free time for swimming, snorkeling, and having a refreshment before sailing back to the pier and your ship.

Clear-Bottom Kayak Discovery
From the pier, a 10-minute walk will bring you to the start of your kayaking adventure. Meet your guide who will introduce you to your clear-bottom kayak and brief you on safety matters before you set off to explore La Baie des Saintes, universally recognized as one of the most beautiful bays in the world.
Follow your guide as you paddle along the bay and stop at the Pain de Sucre, a balsamic formation in this volcanic region. Here you may swim and snorkel.
As you continue along the shore back to the pier, your guide will help identify the different kinds of coral and tropical fish you encountered and explain their role in the local ecosystem.

Catamaran Cruise & Snorkeling
Board a catamaran at the pier for a three-hour sailing and snorkeling adventure in the heart of the Caribbean Sea.
Bequia is considered by many to be one of the best dive spots in the Caribbean, in large part because of its unbelievably clear waters. But you need not be a diver to appreciate the beauty of the caves and holes, walls and overhangs that provide the setting for the beautiful coral formations here that support a teeming marine life. As you sail through these crystalline waters, enjoying sights both above and below water, you will pass by Moonhole, a private community built of stone, inside a massive basalt arch. Moonhole's buildings rely solely on the sun and the wind for power, heating, and cooling.
The catamaran sails on, to the tiny island of Petit Nevis, where the captain will drop anchor and you will be able to snorkel in the waters just offshore.
After time enjoying the crystalline waters, a 30-minute sail will take you back to your ship.

At the pier, you board Island-style jeeps for a scenic and informative introduction to the beauty and heritage of Bequia. Driving through the colorful town of Port Elizabeth, you will pass by fruit and vegetable stands and displays of island jewelry, art, and crafts, all framed by brightly colored flowers and trees.
Your first stop will be at Mt. Pleasant where captivating panoramic views will allow you to appreciate Bequia’s splendor.
Your route continues to the model boat shop. Here you will view skilled craftsmen meticulously carving the models, a traditional Bequian art form, and learn about the history of these beautiful creations.

Bequia Exploration

Driving through the colorful town of Port Elizabeth, you will pass by fruit and vegetable stands and displays of island jewelry, art, and crafts, all framed by brightly colored flowers and trees.
Your first stop is at the 18th-century Hamilton Fort, where your specially-trained guides tell the story of the island's history, and where you catch sight of your ship lying peacefully at anchor in Admiralty Bay below.
Continue inland to Firefly Plantation, a lush 30-acre estate of orchards with a variety of tropical fruits and flowers. The head gardener will lead a leisurely walking tour through the grounds and share the story of the plantation and sugar mill, which dates to 1789.

Grenada Highlights
This excursion provides a relaxed day of touring aboard a comfortable motorcoach to experience the natural beauty of the "Spice Island," to learn about the manufacture of award-winning chocolate, and to sample Grenada's creole cuisine.
From the pier in St. George's, drive along the scenic western coast of the island to reach Concord Falls, a lovely and easily accessible waterfall on the edges of the rainforest. After some time here to stretch your legs among nutmeg and cocoa trees, drive a bit further north to the Diamond Chocolate Factory, established in 2013 in an abandoned 18th-century rum distillery. Learn about the entire process of creating chocolate, from the harvesting of cocoa beans, through their fermentation, sorting, drying, roasting, grinding and refining, to the end product. In 2016, the Jouvay organic chocolate made here was ranked among the 10 best chocolates in the world by National Geographic, and you will be able to sample it before leaving the factory.
Travel to the Belmont Estate, a plantation and restaurant on Grenada's east coast, where you will enjoy a farm to table luncheon buffet of traditional Creole dishes.
Continue your exploration of this lush island as you drive through the rainforest in the central highlands to reach Grand Etang National Park, where you may enjoy a short mid-afternoon stroll through the surrounding gardens before returning to St. George's and your ship.

Trekking to Bamboo Falls
One of the best ways to experience the legendary beauty of Grenada is to hike through the middle of the rainforest that covers much of the island's interior. If you enjoy brisk outdoor activity, this excursion is for you.
From St. George's, drive up steep winding roads to reach the Grand Etang Forest, a sanctuary and nature reserve in the heart of Grenada's Central Mountain Range, some 1900 feet above sea level. Here, lush vegetation, towering mahogany trees, ferns, and colorful tropical flowers provide a perfect habitat for a rich diversity of bird and animal life.
From the trailhead, follow your guide through stands of nutmeg, cinnamon, cocoa, bananas, papaya, and a variety of other tropical fruits and spices as you make your way to Bamboo Falls. The 45-minute trek each way is moderately difficult as the trail can be muddy and slippery, but the falls, known as one of the most beautiful in the Caribbean, is well worth the effort. If you are especially adventurous, you may want to take a dip in the falls before returning to the pier, where you will be greeted with a choice of organic fruit juices to celebrate your outing.
- Total walking distance during this excursion is approximately 1.5 miles. You must be physically fit and at least 8 years old to participate. Since the trail may be muddy and slippery and crosses a small river, sturdy hiking shoes are recommended. Tea at the Tower Estate
The Tower Estate sits atop a small peak in the middle of the Parish of St. George and is dominated by a magnificent Victorian-style Great House. As you tour this century-old stone and wood building, you will feel as though you have entered a different time, walking through rooms with mahogany ceilings and hand-crafted paneled walls—rooms furnished with period antiques and boasting collections of maps and prints of historical Grenada.
The Great House is surrounded by a garden of tropical flowering trees, shrubs, vegetables, fruit trees, and an array of Grenada's world-renowned spices. The award-winning garden (it is, among other honors, listed in Rae Spenser-Jones's 1001 Gardens You Must See Before You Die) is the creation of Victoria Slinger, who sometimes leads tours of the property herself.
After your exploration of the estate, return to the Great House for an afternoon tea of finger sandwiches, breads and pastries, and a selection of fruit juices and teas, including Grenada's famous Blue Tea, made from the Butterfly Pea Flower.

Snorkeling the Underwater Sculpture Park
Grenada, like most of the islands in the Caribbean, is a snorkeler's paradise, with crystal clear waters, protected bays, and coral reefs. This excursion takes advantage of all of those attributes and adds the special Grenadian twist of a visit to the world's first underwater sculpture park.
Meet your captain and crew as you step aboard a twin-engine powerboat and cruise northward along Grenada's scenic western coast. Arrive at the underwater sculpture park, created by English artist Jason De Cayres Taylor in 2006. Taylor's installation consists of sculpted human forms strategically placed within the reef in the hope that they may aid in the rebuilding of a damaged ecosystem. The park's highlight is ''Vicissitudes,'' a circle of life-size sculptures of children of diverse ethnic backgrounds holding hands.
After a guided snorkel, continue cruising through scenic bays and along Carenage, St. George’s picturesque historic inner harbor.

Catamaran Cruise & Snorkeling
From the pier, board your coach for a 15-minute transfer to your catamaran. After receiving safety instructions, you will start your cruise on the crystal-clear waters along the coastline of Barbados.
Continue to a sheltered bay for an exploration of the dazzling marine inhabitants of Barbados. In addition to schools of colorful tropical fish, this area is known for its population of Green and Hawksbill Turtles, who enjoy the temperate and calm waters off the west coast. Take the opportunity to snorkel with these graceful sea turtles – an underwater camera is a must. Take a swim in the warm, inviting waters from the boat or choose to simply relax on deck and enjoy the sunshine. During your return cruise, enjoy refreshments and a snack.

This tour involves very little walking and a few steps. No shoes are allowed on the vessel. We recommend you wear your swimsuit under your clothes, take a towel from the ship, and protect yourself from the sun. Snorkel equipment is included. Participants must be competent swimmers and able to get in/out of the water by means of the ladder without assistance. The fauna and flora observation cannot be guaranteed. A minimum of 25 participants is required to operate this tour.

Barbados Rum Experience
Barbados claims to be the birthplace of rum, and although other Caribbean islands also lay claim to that distinction, there is no doubt that the tiny island produces some of the very best varieties of rum to be found anywhere.
Begin with a drive through Bridgetown and past its historic Garrison, once the largest British garrison in the Caribbean and now a UNESCO World Heritage site, to reach the bustling South Coast of beautiful beaches and colorful hotels. Turning inland, travel the short distance to the Foursquare Rum Distillery and Heritage Park, established in 1720 and renovated in 1996 to become among the most technologically advanced distilleries on Barbados.
A guided tour of this award-winning facility—Rum Distillery of the Year 2016-2019 & 2021 at the IWSC in London—walks you through the stages of rum making, introduces you to the history of sugarcane plantations, and ends, of course, with a tasting of Foursquare rums, including local favorites such as Doorly’s XO, RL Seales Old Brigand, and RUM Sixty-Six.
On your return to Bridgetown, drive through the lush St. George Valley before reboarding the ship.

Highlights of Barbados
From the pier, board your coach for a 30-minute drive to Gun Hill Signal Station. You will pass through the heart of the capital of Bridgetown with its many historic buildings and then up to Government Hill, where the residences of the Governor General and the Prime Minister are located.
Nestled in lush vegetation and built in 1818, Gun Hill Signal Station is one of a chain of signal stations established across the country for the security of Barbados and for dissemination of information mainly relating to shipping. Today it is fully restored and landscaped. At 700 feet above sea level, this spot affords one of the best views of the island.
Your next stop will be the St. John's Parish Church. This classic Gothic church was built to replace the previous structure, which had been destroyed by a hurricane in 1831. Steeped in the island's history, this historic church boasts a panoramic view of Barbados' wind-swept East coast. Some curiosities of this site include the fact that the Churchyard contains the remains of Ferdinando Paleologus (a descendant of the last Byzantine Emperor), and the interior's pulpit is carved out of seven different types of wood.
Your last stop will be made at Codrington College, an Anglican seminary founded with funds from the bequest of Christopher Codrington. After his death in 1710, Codrington left portions of his sugar cane estates to the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts in order to establish a college in Barbados. Construction was started in 1714, and the college was eventually opened on September 9, 1745.
Your return drive takes you along the bustling South Coast of the island, passing through the Garrison and then the capital Bridgetown, all part of a UNESCO World Heritage site, before returning to the Port.
